Abstract. The growth and flowering of garden chrysanthemum cultivars after transplanting from ground to pots was determined. Plants cultivated in ground were transplanted to pots in stage of coloured bud and compared with plants cultivated in pots from May in the open ground. This method of culture is tolerated by Belgian cultivars ‘Camina Red’, ‘Conaco’, ‘Minera’, ‘Paularo Lilac’ and ‘Tirona Red’ as well as French cultivars: ‘Dendara’, ‘Doria’, ‘Flucky’, ‘Iza’ and ‘Tanilyn’. For American cultivars it cannot be recommended.
Key words:
garden chrysanthemums, transplanting to pots
Summary
The influence of transplanting from ground to pots on growth and flowering of chrysanthemum cultivars: 10 – Belgian (Gediflora), 9 – French (Guittet) and 10 – American (Yoder) was determined. Onehalf of rooted cutting was planted into ground in third decade of May 2004 and the second one – to pots and also remained in the ground. Plants growing in ground were transplanted to pots in stage of coloured buds (1-15 July).
This method of culture could be used for Belgian cultivars ‘Camina Red’, ‘Conaco’, ‘Minera’, ‘Paularo Lilac’ and ‘Tirona Red’ as well as French cultivars: ‘Dendara’, ‘Doria’, ‘Flucky’, ‘Iza’ and ‘Tanilyn’. These cultivars grown in ground stronger and they tolerate transplanting, formed more inflorescences than those cultivated in pots from May. American cultivars tolerate digging out and transplanting to pots the worst; this method of culture can not be recommended for these cultivars.
